Many SMEs could sell their product or expertise to defence, even if they have never done so. A dual-use product works in both civilian and defence use, and the defence industry’s value chain also has room for subcontractors. The road to defence and NATO customers is long, but there is funding from many sources for the journey.
Funding for defence and NATO markets
- ReArm funding: a regional centre (elinvoimakeskus) grant for developing and investing in the defence and dual-use industry. Also open to subcontractors.
- EDF – European Defence Fund: EU defence research and development projects. The applicant is a European consortium.
- NATO DIANA: NATO’s accelerator for dual-use deep tech. Besides funding, test centres and mentors.
- Horizon Europe and the EIC: grants and equity investment for breakthrough technology.
Who can apply, how much funding is available and when to apply are on the page Dual-use funding.
What we do
We find out which funding suits your project and build a schedule in which the different sources support each other. We prepare the applications with their attachments and handle the contact with the funders. In an EDF project this also covers applying for national support from the Ministry of Defence. Bureaucracy is our problem.
