Public funding bodies

There are many public funders, and each has its own conditions. This page brings them together in one place, and we tell you which of them suits your project.

Public funding bodies such as the elinvoimakeskus (regional development centre), Business Finland and Finnvera offer SMEs a wide range of financing solutions that support growth, innovation and internationalisation. Alongside the national funders, companies can access funding from the EU and international programmes, which opens up opportunities for larger development projects and European collaboration. We help your company identify the right source of funding and take the application through the whole process.

Business Finland funding

Business Finland is a government organisation that grants funding for a wide range of business development, research and product development. Its funding is aimed particularly at small and medium-sized enterprises.

Business Finland offers companies funding and development services for different needs, from the early stages of a company to international growth. Business Finland’s funding services include, for example, research and development funding, Sprint funding, funding for young innovative companies and energy aid.

Elinvoimakeskus funding

The elinvoimakeskus supports the development and investment projects of Finnish SMEs. The aim of the support is to create new business and promote SME growth, internationalisation and innovation. Elinvoimakeskus funding comes from different sources, and most grants include funding from the EU.

The elinvoimakeskus’s business funding includes the development grant, which is awarded for company development measures and the promotion of innovation.

Finnvera’s guarantees and loans

Finnvera is a state-owned financing company that offers companies guarantees and low-interest loans. Its aim is to direct funding particularly to growing and internationalising companies and to investment and exports.

Finnvera’s financing services cover every stage of a business, from start-up to growth and internationalisation. Finnvera also helps companies protect themselves effectively against export risks.

EU funding and international programmes

The European Union funds companies’ research, product development, investment and international collaboration through several funding programmes. Some EU funding is applied for in Finland through the elinvoimakeskus, and some directly from the EU’s own programmes, where a Finnish company can receive funding in the order of a million euros for its project.

Alongside the EU programmes there are international networks such as Eureka, Eurostars and NATO DIANA, which give Finnish companies a route into international research and development projects. We know the programmes’ application processes and help you choose the right route for your company.
